Admission Requirements for our MBA On and Off Campus Programs
- According to California State University requirements, applicants must have a four-year bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university from the U.S. or outside of the U.S. Applicants must take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). (Applicants with a Ph.D. from a U.S institution are not required to take the GMAT). You must submit official transcripts.
- Priority for admission will be given to applicants who have a GPA of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale) in their last 60 semester units or 90 quarter units of course work (Professional Development and Certificate Program course work cannot be included in this calculation) and a score of at least 500 on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), with scores in the verbal and quantitative sections in the 50th percentile or above.
- Applicants who have earned a degree from a university in which the language of instruction was not English must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). You must score at least 550 on the paper-based test (PBT), 213 on the computer-based test (CBT), or 80 internet-based.
NOTE: Degrees are evaluated AFTER an application is received. We do NOT pre-evaluate any degree before receiving an application.
Three-year undergraduate degrees or technology degrees cannot be used to substitute for a four-year degree.
Pre-Requisite Courses
Students entering Fall 2008
Principles of Macroeconomics; Principles of Microeconomics; and Business Statistics are courses that must be completed as pre-requisites for the MBA program and do not count as part of the program of study. These courses must be completed within one year after beginning the program. The pre-requisite courses can be waived for individuals who have completed these courses within the last seven years with a grade of B or better. Individuals who have earned a grade of C or better and/or have completed these courses more than seven years ago can satisfy the pre-requisite requirements by taking an on-line tutorial refresher course.
Students entering Spring 2009 and thereafter
Principles of Macroeconomics; Principles of Microeconomics; and Business Statistics are courses that must be completed as pre-requisites for the MBA program and do not count as part of the program of study. Completion of the pre-requisite courses is not required at the time of application but completion of these courses is required before enrollment in the Lucas GSB in Spring 2009. Applicants should plan accordingly for completing these courses.
The pre-requisite courses can be waived for individuals who have completed these courses within the last seven years with a grade of B or better. Admitted students who have never taken these pre-requisite courses, or who have not achieved at least a B in them, must complete these three courses before enrolling in our MBA courses. Successful completion of the pre-requisites will be made a condition of admission for such applicants who are admitted to our MBA program. Individuals who have taken these courses more than seven years ago (and received a grade of B or better) can satisfy the pre-requisite requirements by taking an on-line tutorial refresher course.
