Admission Requirements for MBA/MSE

  1. Undergraduate Degree
    You must have a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Science (mathematics, physics, or chemistry) from an accredited college or university.

    NOTE: A degree will be evaluated AFTER the application is received. We do NOT pre-evaluate any degrees before receiving an application.

    Three-year undergraduate degrees or technology degrees may not be used to qualify for this program.

  2. Grade Point Average
    You must have a GPA of at least 2.75 in the last 60 semester units or 90 quarter units of your undergraduate program.
  3. Application
    You must complete a San José State University Graduate School application and pay the $55.00 application fee. Complete the applicaiton online at CSU Mentor.
  4. Statement of Purpose
    A written Statement of Purpose must accompany your application.
  5. Transcripts
    You must provide sealed transcripts from all post secondary educational institutions attended.
  6. Graduate Management Admission Test
    You need a minimum score of 500 with both verbal and quantitative scores in the 50th percentile or higher.
  7. Test of English as a Foreign Language
    Applicants who earned their degree outside of the U.S. are required to take the TOEFL and achieve a score of at least 550 (paper based), 213 (computer based), 80 (internet based).
