RICHARD M. LEVY – Education & Career highlights

Richard Levy has been chairman of the Varian Medical Systems Board of Directors since 2002. He was CEO of the company from 1999 to 2006.

Levy became CEO when Varian Associates, Inc. separated into three independent businesses. Prior to that “spin”, Levy served as executive vice president of Varian Associates, where he was part of the senior management team leading one of America’s pioneer high-technology companies. Levy was appointed a senior vice president of the corporation in 1989, and during the 1989-1992 period oversaw a number of business areas, including Semiconductor Equipment and Vacuum Products. He became executive vice president of the corporation in 1992 and, until the time of the spin, oversaw the medical businesses and the Ginzton Technology Center, the company’s research and development center.

Levy holds a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College and a doctorate in nuclear chemistry from the University of California at Berkeley. He began his business career at the Monsanto Company, where he served as a research specialist and project manager in both basic and applied research. Within Varian, prior to assuming General Management and CEO duties, he oversaw Sales, Marketing, Service, R&D, and various corporate functions as well as managing the corporate Quality Program.

Levy is also vice chairman of the board of trustees of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation and Co-Chairman of Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network’s Smart Health Initiative. He is a member of the boards of directors of Sutter Health, Pharmacyclics, Inc., and United Way Silicon Valley. He is a member of the Advisory Panel of the Center for the Evaluative Clinical Sciences at Dartmouth and is an active participant in summits for CCI (Center for Corporate Innovation, Inc.), with a focus on improvement of the national healthcare system. He is a past chairman of the board of directors of the American Electronics Association, America’s largest high-technology trade organization.

ROBERT S. KIEVE – Education & Career highlights

Robert S. Kieve is president of Empire Broadcasting Corporation, a company which he formed in 1967. Empire Broadcasting owns and operates 1590 KLIV and acts as operating partner of 95.3 KRTY.

Kieve also serves as a radio commentator, frequently sharing his views about issues in Silicon Valley. A 1943 graduate of Harvard College, Kieve was general manager of the Harvard undergraduate radio station. After summer jobs in New Jersey radio stations, he began his career as information officer of the American Embassy in Madrid, Spain, during and after World War II.

He was program director and play-by-play announcer at WGVA in Geneva, NY, and was a promotion writer for CBS in New York City.

In 1953 he became a special assistant in the White House office, acting as a writer for President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

In 1957 he became general manager of radio station WBBF in Rochester, NY. During his ten years in Rochester, he also put on the air station WBBF-FM, a 24-hour classical music station, which won the first annual award of the American Music Council for excellence in FM programming.

He is the author of El Arte Radiofonico, a book that, for many years was Spain’s only publication on radio broadcasting.

In San Jose, he is a past chairman of the San Jose Chamber of Commerce and past chairman of the Chamber’s political action committee. He is a board member of Symphony Silicon Valley and serves on the boards of the California Broadcasters Association and of Regional Medical Center in San Jose.

RICHARD Y. OKUMOTO – Education & Career highlights

Mr. Okumoto is an SJSU alumnus. He holds both a BS Degree/Business (Accounting) and an MBA from San Jose State University.

Richard has extensive corporate governance experience in publicly-traded companies and non-profit company environments, GAAP, SEC Reporting, Sarbanes / Oxley, IPO, Public & Private Funding, Complex Structured Finance and far-reaching M&A experience. Along his career, he served as President, Vice President, CEO, CFO, and General Manager for several large corporations, including Photon Dynamics, Inc., Photon Dynamics, Inc., Credence Systems Corporation, TMT, Inc., and BASYS Systems. Currently, he serves as Board Member and Executive Committee Member for several organizations, including San Jose State University.

Dr. GARY M. SILVER – Education & Career highlights

Dr. Silver was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He did his undergraduate work at Dartmouth College and then off to Northwestern University Medical School Class of 1966, followed by seven years of Internship and Residency in Cardio-Thoracic Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic.

Dr. Silver moved to San Jose in 1973. He then started the Heart Surgery program at O’Connor Hospital and practiced heart surgery there for 30 years.

Along the way, he obtained an MBA from San Jose State University in 1988 and taught a course in “Business and Professional Ethics” at SJSU. Dr. Silver is a member of various professional, business and civic organizations and was President of the Rotary Club of San Jose in 1993 and presently he is a member on the SJSU College of Business Advisory Board.

Career & Achievements:

Richard Stone, founder and CEO of Salient Wealth Management, LLC, has been engaged in investments and financial planning in the Bay Area for 38 years. At Salient, Richard sets global investment strategy. He also works closely with clients to develop investment policies and manage their portfolios on an on-going basis.

Richard Stone was one of the initial 42 CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM certificants credentialed by the College for Financial Planning in 1973. Since then, he has taught every course required for CFP certification. He is a member of the Financial Planning Advisory Board in the Department of Economics & Finance at Golden Gate University, where he was an adjunct professor to Master’s degree candidates.

He is past president of the East Bay Chapter of the International Association of Financial Planners. As a member of the IAFP national Board of Directors, Richard wrote the first Code of Ethics for the financial planning industry.

See what Target is doing to ensure this aspect continues to be a strong presence in the company and the benefits that come with it.

Naomi Cramer is the Regional Human Resources Director for Target Corporation. She started working at Target while she was in college and has held various leadership roles within the last 21 years of her career. She was part of the Stores Leadership team for 15 years before moving into Human Resources for the last six years.

Currently, Naomi's territory includes 280 stores, 90,000 team members and approximately 15 billion in sales.

Naomi's passion for developing people is truly evident in her leadership style. She loves to drive change and see her teams succeed. Naomi is surrounded by a beautiful family, with a passion in spending time with her three kids, ages 16, 10, and 7. She and her family are currently building a home in Alta Loma, California, where they will soon move to. Naomi attended the University of North Dakota and graduated from the University of Phoenix with a BS in Business Administration.
