Alan has more than 20 years of leadership and management experience working with enterprise technology companies ranging from early stage start-ups to large, successful organizations. Prior to joining Attune, Alan was president and CEO of Intransa Inc., an IP SAN innovator, where he was responsible for all aspects of the company's growth. Prior to that Alan was Chief Operating Officer at Palm Inc., where he was responsible for the development, licensing and expansion of the Palm OS platform, which became the most pervasive environment for handheld devices during his tenure. Alan joined Palm in 1999, when it was a subsidiary of 3Com Corporation. During his 14-year tenure at 3Com, Alan rose to the general manager and senior vice president of 3Com's Enterprise Systems Sales and Global Customer Support organization. After gaining recognition for his achievements and management skills in a series of executive roles at the company, he was subsequently selected as Palm's president and was a member of Palm's executive team charted with developing the subsidiary into an independent company and subsequent IPO. Alan then assumed the role of chief operating officer for the Platform Solutions Group, helping the platform earn more than 75 percent market share among handheld devices in 2000.

Alan received a bachelor's degree with honors in Business Administration from San Jose State University and a master's degree in Business Administration from the University of California at Berkeley .

Speaker: David Heenan, Author and Trustee of the Estate of James Campbell

David A. Heenan is a trustee of the Estate of James Campbell, one of the nation’s largest landowners with assets valued at over $2 billion. Formerly, he served as chairman and CEO of Theo. H. Davies & Co., Ltd., the North American holding company for the Hong Kong-based Jardine Matheson. Earlier, he was the vice president for academic affairs at the University of Hawaii and, before that, dean of its business school.

Mr. Heenan holds the A.B. degree from the College of William and Mary, the M.B.A. from Columbia University and the Ph.D. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He has served on the faculties of the Wharton School and the Columbia Graduate School of Business. He also serves on the boards of Bank of Hawaii, Maui Land & Pineapple Company and several other organizations.

An active writer, Mr. Heenan’s articles have appeared in such diverse publications as the Harvard Business Review (seven times), the Sloan Management Review, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and The Christian Science Monitor. He is the author or co-author of Double Lives, Co-Leaders, The New Corporate Frontier, The Re-United States of America and Multinational Organization Development. Mr. Heenan’s sixth book, Flight Capital, was recently released.
